Hi! I’m Adam.

Welcome to my menagerie...

I write stories children love and
parents love to read.

I am a husband, father, author, and illustrator who writes and draws stories for my favorite audience in the world – my children. They are my biggest fans and my toughest critics.

I also draw pigs.

They’re farcical portraits of serious subjects, and I absolutely love them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What media do you use?

I prefer to keep it simple: a pencil, an eraser, and a Pigma Micron pen. I work on basic printer paper for my stories and in a large Moleskine Art Sketchbook for my porktraits.

Where do you get your story ideas?

I wish I knew. Sometimes stories come to me like a bad fever dream. Others spring from linguistic fascinations, like rhyming schemes I want to try or interesting words I stumble across.

Why pigs?

Why not?

But, in all seriousness, it’s because I thought that they would be simple to draw and replicate…silly me.

Pigs have stout, sausage-shaped forms that lend themselves well to my illustration style; they don’t have hands (fingers are my nemesis); and I never anticipated seriously clothing them or giving them hair. Clearly, I took a wrong turn somewhere.

What inspires the porktraits?

It all started with pig puns and spiraled out of control. I was trying to shoehorn pig puns into people’s names and the rest is history.

So many of the porktraits are based on stuffy, serious portraits that someone commissioned eons ago. I often think that most art takes itself too seriously, so I find it an amusing exercise to parody such pompous art with my low-brow porcine flair.

Do you draw people?

Can I draw them as pigs?

Where can I read your stories?

Free digital copies of my stories are available on my Downloads page.

I love your art and want to buy some!

First of all, that’s not a question. Second of all, I’m flattered.

I don’t mass-produce art for sale, but please contact me and let me know what you have in mind. I do commissions and limited-edition pieces.

Do you take commissions, collaborate on projects, or license your work?

TL;DR: it depends.

I only take on commissions, collaborations, or partnerships that I find interesting, for which I have sufficient availability, and that is mutually beneficial for all involved.

If you have an opportunity or request you’d like to pitch, contact me and we’ll see if we can work something out.
